Episode 13 – Simran Jeet Singh

As a South Asian American and a pediatrician, when I first heard that a children’s book called Fauja Singh Keeps Going had been written about the resilience and determination of a 100 year old Sikh marathon runner, I was grateful to see this story and what it represented. But I was even more thrilled to meet and chat with the author, Simran Jeet Singh, who is a writer, professor, and activist living in New York. His expertise is diverse, and he leads conversations on equity, justice, and compassion. His course on “Anti- Racism as Spiritual Practice”, is being taught at Columbia University and has a companion web-series called Becoming Less Racist.   Simran grew up as a Sikh American in San Antonio, Texas, and now serves on President-Elect Joe Biden’s AAPI Faith Advisory Committee.
