
She’s an Indian American from Pittsburgh with a refreshing honesty and self-awareness, which is what I appreciated the most when I caught up with the incredibly talented Sujata Day. As a performer, she played Sarah on the HBO series Insecure and CeCe on web series Awkward Black Girl, both created by Issa Rae. As a director, she’s proudly telling stories through her work, blending authenticity with reverence and reflection. After capturing attention for her short film “Cowboy and Indian”, Sujata wrote, produced, directed and starred in her latest film “Definition Please”, which recently won the Grand Jury award for Best Feature Film at San Francisco’s CAAM Fest.
